It’s here, it’s here, the new year is here! And with it, some new beginnings. But first, a quick look back on how 2024 went.

On the personal/family level, we had a lot going on. From finishing the basement in our Iowa house (not much fun living through that), then moving to Colorado, selling the house in Iowa, and starting a new business – it was stressful. I mean, any one of those things is stressful enough on its own, but all four in one year… oof!

On the creative side of things, 2024 was a bit of a doozy. I didn’t make much and didn’t blog much, and really didn’t even feel particularly inspired until we got to Colorado and I met my new knitting and sewing buddies.

But now, things are in full swing, at least sewing- and knitting-wise. I have new basic blocks to refine and ideas for new clothes I want to wear. It feels a lot like the old creative days so here’s hoping 2025 will be supportive of that.

Last FO of 2024 – teal triangle scarf

Finished scarf shown on dress form tied around the neck, draped loosely over both shoulders, and draped loosely over one shoulder.

This is a simple triangle scarf. I started with three stitches, and added one every other row (kfb in the last stitch). This way one side gets wider as you go, and the other is a straight edge. All garter stitch, so nothing complicated.

I usually knit these to 300 rows, then bind off. But I had extra yarn so I figured I could keep knitting and make this one bigger. Er… not so much. The yarn started tangling, and I was like, why am I doing this to myself?  With that, I bound off after row 300, and wove in the ends.

The yarn is Kidsilk Haze in shade #666 Alhambra. I bought two balls of it at The Knitting Shoppe in Iowa City, and have about half of one ball left.

Simple, easy, and very wearable. Not much else to say about it, so this is it. Stay tuned for my next project.

Happy New Year! 🥳🎊🍀

  1. It’s so nice to see a post from you with a catch up. While I didn’t move in 2024, I didn’t create as much as I have previously, so I understand about the lack of creating. Your scarf is pretty. Hope to see more from you in 2025!
